DIY : Magical Monster Spray

Halloween has passed and it left a lot of scary monsters behind! With all these skeletons, vampires, crazy pumpkins and spiders around, my little one is now scared to sleep in the dark. She’s convinced that a horrible monster is going to come out from under the bed, behind the door or any other dark place… At this age, kids sometimes can’t make the difference between their imagination and reality. So I obviously had to do something so she could sleep peacefully again.
Even before being a mom, I liked the idea of the monster spray and I decided to give it a try. I looked around and found a lot of different versions, but I honestly couldn’t find anything that would make this special potion “magical” (you know I don’t like ordinary things!) so I decided to make my own magical monster spray.
I think that the same way kids are convinced that scary monsters live under their bed or inside their closet, they have to believe that this magical potion has been made by a wizard who lives deep inside an enchanted forest. The more they will believe in the magic of this spray, the more it will work. So the first things I did instead of using a basic spray bottle, is to use a plant mister. Why? Because even tap water looks special and magical in a lovely plant mister! Then I added some secret ingredients and I had my magical monster spray.

And here is what you need to make yours:

A clear plant mister
Distilled or deionised water
Glycerine (aka unicorn tears)
Glitter (aka pure fairy dust)
Lavender essential oil (optional)
Adhesive paper

Take your plant mister and fill it with distilled water. Then add a few teaspoons of glycerine and glitter. The glycerine will thicken the water and give a snow globe effect with the glitter floating slowly into the water! It will be like pixie dust dancing in the water!
If you want you can also add a few drops of lavender essential oil to this magic blend. It will help your little one to relax and fall asleep more easily.

Print the label on adhesive paper, cut it and stick it onto your plant mister (you can find the labels I specially made right here and also at the end of this post).

And that’s it! Your magical monster spray is now ready to use!

Use: Gently shake to activate the power of the pixie dust. Then spray under the bed, in the closet and other dark places where scary monsters can hide. It will keep them away.
If necessary, repeat the treatment for one week and the monsters will be gone forever.
Caution: Only for use on monsters. Do not spray on siblings, parents or pets!
